I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of my Brema Group Racing Toyota 86 in Townsville this weekend! It’s been a while since the first round at Phillip Island, so I’m hanging to get back out there!
I’ve been doing a lot of simulator work; typically focusing on Townsville to familiarise myself with the circuit. Just recently, I also held a track day for my sponsors where I was able to take them for a ride in my 86, so that was a bit of fun and also gave me some more time behind the wheel!
Last week I was also given the opportunity to test one of Matt Stone Racing’s FGX Falcons at Queensland Raceway, so whilst it was a different car, it was good to get out there and maintain some track time and get a feel for a different type of car.
I’m feeling really confident heading into this round. Last year was the first time I raced on this circuit, so I’m a bit more familiar with the track and now have some experience of what to expect, so I’m hopeful I can have a good weekend.
I really enjoy the style of this circuit, it’s quite fast flowing and has lots of curbs which requires a lot of attention and is quite hard on the body. There’s always something going on, so you have to have your wits about you! The atmosphere is also great at this round and of course, who can complain about the sunshine!
Qualifying is always key to a successful race and that’s something I’ve struggled with a little; sometimes getting caught up in the hustle and bustle. So, I’ll be looking to try and steer clear of the ruckus and focussing on pressing hard and putting myself in a good position in qualifying for the races!
A big thanks to all my sponsors for their support – let’s hope we can have a good weekend!
Hope to see you there!
