It’s been a long 6 weeks since the last round and I’m hanging to get back into my Toyota 86 ahead of this weekend at The Bend Motorsport Park.
I’ve been keeping busy in between rounds; working, training and I also competed in the ACO Legend Cars Series last weekend at Wakefield Park, which was a lot of fun. I managed to come away with 2nd and 3rd and I must admit, it was a lot of fun driving the 1937 Legend Car Ford!
I managed to complete a test day here at Tailem Bend about 4 weeks ago – which was good. Being a new track, I’ve obviously never been around there before so it was great to get an idea of the track layout. I must admit, I thought it was going to be quite tricky to learn, however by the end of the day I was feeling really comfortable and was sitting inside the top 5 – which was great.
It’s a very quick circuit and also very long, so it’s important not to make any mistakes, as that will ruin the rest of the lap and over all time. It’s a very demanding track and difficult to see out of the exits, so it’s important to keep focused throughout the entire session.
The facilities at The Bend are just fantastic and I’m really excited to be a part of this new circuit.
Coming out of Townsville, I’m feeling really confident. We managed to maintain and have solid pace so I’m hoping we can do the same this weekend. I’ve also got an engineer for this round, so hopefully we can step up our game and be stronger throughout the weekend.
I’m currently sitting 16th in the Toyota 86 Series Championship and I’m hoping to continue clawing my way up the standings. I’m hoping that we can finish inside the top 10 and have a clean run.
Huge thanks to my sponsors and crew for all their support so far this season. Here’s hoping that I can have a solid weekend!
