Driver of the Brema Group Racing backed VF Commodore, Zane Morse is set to tackle his biggest weekend to date as he debuts in his first round of the Dunlop Super2 Series in Adelaide this weekend.
The 20-year old has taken the step up from the Toyota 86 Series after a successful final round at Newcastle last year, claiming a third and two second place finishes and is on the hunt to chase his Supercar dreams.
“I am so excited to be racing in the Dunlop Super2 Series this year,” admits Morse.
“I owe a huge thanks to Brema Group and also my dad and all the guys who have been working on the car getting it prepped and ready in time for this weekend.
“It’s a huge step up and certainly this year will be mostly a learning season for us. It’ll be all about learning the car and just working together as a team.”
Unlike majority of the field, Morse will be running his entry with his family and mechanic friends; a privateer team rather than a factory run team.
“We didn’t really have the budget to be able to go and approach any of the big guys and Mark Siracusa (owner of Brema Group), suggested that we give the Super2 Series a crack and so I thought why not!” said the 20-year old.
“As I mentioned, we’re not expecting to be running up the front of the field. But it most certainly will make all the successful moments just that bit more bittersweet. So, here’s hoping!”
The Canberra native completed a test day in the VF Commodore last week in preparation for this weekend.
“The test day last week went really well. We were able to run through a chunk of what we were hoping to, and it was great to get out there and just get a feel for the car. There were a few other guys running as well, so it was great to be able to get a bit of a feel as to how we all compared,” said Morse.
This weekend will see the Super2 pilot race the Adelaide street circuit for the first time in his racing career, marking another milestone in his motorsport history.
“I haven’t raced around Adelaide before, so I’m really looking forward to it. I do like the street circuits, so hopefully I can come out and have a great first round,” said the Brema Group racer.
The Dunlop Super2 Series is the support category to the Virgin Australia Supercars and are set to hit the track for the first practice session on Thursday 20th February at 12:55pm AEST.
