Wow! Well Sandown certainly didn’t go to plan for us!
Things were looking relatively well during Friday’s practice sessions. I finished up with a P16 and P18 in both sessions. I managed to qualify 16th ahead of Saturday’s Race 1 and I was only one tenth from pole, so the racing was pretty close.
I was looking to improve on the first and third sector, I was confident through the second – but had some work to do come the race and every little bit counts!
When I saw the rain forecast for Saturday, I was confident as I love the wet, but unfortunately come the race, we blew an oil line on the starting grid and finished up with a DNF for Race 1.
The crew worked extremely hard in trying to get the car out for Race 2, but unfortunately there was just too much damage to the engine and we had to call it a weekend.
A big thanks to the crew and also the guys from Brema Group for all your hard work and support!
Onwards and upwards to Bathurst, 4 – 7 October! We will be looking to redeem ourselves, that’s for sure!
Hope to see you there!
