Zane Morse – Sandown Preview

It’s been a few weeks break since the last round at The Bend and I can’t wait to get back into my Brema Group Toyota 86 for the Sandown round this weekend.

We had a reasonable weekend at the last round, finishing 12th and 10th in race 1 and 2, however had an unfortunate end to the weekend on Sunday when I had a DNF. So, I’ll be looking to redeem myself this weekend and pick up some points!

I’ve been keeping nice and busy in the weeks off, I even competed in the Australian Legend Cars, claiming pole position and took out the Australian title – so that was a lot of fun!

I’ve been training hard in the gym, ensuring to keep up with my fitness and have also been cutting some laps on the simulator ready for Sandown.

I quite like this track, I have been here before in the Formula 4 – so it’s great to be able to head there knowing I have some experience around there. The track surface is quite bumpy and has a good combination of tight as well as fast flowing corners and a couple of long straights. It provides a good mixture of everything, so I do enjoy this circuit.

We were lucky enough to have Mark Rundle engineer at the last round and he will be continuing on for this weekend too, which I’m really pleased about. It’s great to have someone analyze my driving and show me where I can improve as well as give me some handy tips.

I’ll be aiming for the top ten again this weekend as well as look to be consistent, ensuring I can bag some more points.

Obviously this weekend, we will be the support category to the Supercars, who will be sporting old school liveries as they get into the spirit of the retro round. I can’t wait to get there and be involved in such a cool event – something a little different!

I hit the track for practice one on Friday 14th September at 8:15am.
