I’m really looking forward to getting back out on the track for the first round of the Toyota 86 Series at Phillip Island this weekend. It’s been a nice long break and I feel refreshed and ready to go again for the 2019 season!
I’ve got a brand new car for this year, which I’m really excited about – so I can’t wait to see how it goes! My younger brother Alec will be racing my car from last year in his debut, so it’ll be great to see how he goes this year and will also be a bit of fun!
Last year at Phillip Island I had a mixed weekend, my car certainly had great pace where I showed some promising signs, particularly in qualifying (16th) and race 2, where I started from the back of the pack and finished up 16th. So I’m hoping I can bring home some positive results this weekend.
I do really like this track, it’s open and fast flowing and allows for plenty of passing opportunities, so I can’t wait to get out there and see what I can make of it this year.
I’ll be looking to get a feel for the car and ensuring I feel settled before I push too hard this weekend. There are some new faces this season, as well as some old and I can’t wait to get back into it.
It’s been a big week of media for me, announcing all my sponsors as well as my 2019 livery. I can’t thank all my sponsors and supporters enough for all your support and help – I wouldn’t be here without you all!
I hit the track for the first practice on Friday 12thApril at 11am.
