I’m so pleased with how I finished off the Toyota 86 season for 2019 – I had a great weekend in Newcastle!
Friday’s practice session I rolled out relatively strong, in P3. The field was extremely close. After testing the track and pushing a little too hard, I clipped the wall in the second session where I finished up P17. I was really happy with my qualifying session on the Saturday, I managed to sit inside the top ten and qualified 8th ahead of the first race.
Saturday’s first race, I was able to fight my way through the pack and pick off some spots to bring it home in 3rd!! I was absolutely stoked with that result. The crew had a bit of work to do after I copped a bit of damage from behind, so a big thanks to Dave and everyone for working on the car to get it ready overnight for the final day.
After a successful day Saturday, I started Sunday’s race 2 from the second row of the grid and managed to go one better and crossed the line in second. I was even the fastest on track for majority of the race, which I was pretty pleased with.
I was able to finish off the weekend nicely with another second place in the final race. It was definitely my best round of the season. A massive thanks to all of the crew, my sponsors, supporters and of course family for a mega season! I wouldn’t be here without you all.
I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter next year as I take on a new series!
Wishing everyone a relaxing break and I’ll see you all in 2020!
