It’s a pretty surreal feeling, heading to the iconic ‘Mountain’ to race this weekend! I’ve only ever been to Bathurst as a spectator with my family – so it’s pretty cool and a dream come true to be able to race my Brema Group Toyota 86 around there!
I must admit though, I am feeling pretty nervous. It’s known to be a very unforgiving track and as they say, when the Mountain bites, it bites hard. I’m feeling prepared though, especially after the unfortunate weekend we had at Sandown with engine dramas – we have put in a new engine and the car is prepped and ready to go!
I’ve been doing lots of sessions of the Bathurst circuit on the simulator, familiarising myself with the layout so I’m hopeful we can have a successful weekend!
I’ll have an engineer again this weekend, which is great – to have that continuity and support from someone is so helpful and I’m eager to jump behind the wheel and give it a crack!
The atmosphere is amazing and I can’t wait to see what it feels like from behind the wheel, along Conrad Straight!
